Scotland Day 4: Tattoo You and other adventures

Day Four:

Such a long day, but so much to see. The day began early with a 7:45 am trip to see the theatre space where we may be performing next year. As is the case with many of the spaces, this is a church that is converted with drapes and lighting rigs. The Central has two theatres, a black box and a larger space. The black box had been dismantled by the time we saw it - so it will be interesting to see it next year. We could see the potential. I love the fact that, at the Fringe, every space is a possibility for performance and how truly integrated the arts are into every aspect of this city.

After the visit to the spaces, we hit the ground to see a fringe show. This was ASU's movement-based show that used silks and extraordinary physical storytelling. We'll hit another show tonight.

The day ended with an incredible dinner and a walk up to Edinburgh castle to the Royal Tatoo - which defies explanation. This was a coming together of military performance groups from all over the world. When the world seems so fractured at times - this was a beautiful reminder that together, we can do great things. In these photos, I think people can see the inspiration for JK Rowling and her invention of the Quitditch pitch.

Lessons Learned:

1. Life is better with art in it.

Peace.
